The TENTH edition of our popular Half-Iron distance race. Swim a letter "M" course in the shallow, clean water of Lake 1 with safety canoes, straight into transition. A mostly flat bike route in the gorgeous Kent countryside! A flat run round the little-used local roads to finish. Your entry fee includes free BBQ after the event, for which your bib number is the voucher.
Race Format: 1900m Open Water Swim, 87.9k Bike, 21.2k Run.

New from 2017: An AQUABIKE finish line. If you are unable (or simply choose not) to do the run for any reason, such as an injury, we will publish results of your swim and bike times as an Aquabike event. There is no special entry or registration for this, so even if you simply retire after the bike or an old injury comes to get you on the run, you will get an Aquabike finish time. Any awards may depend on numbers.
Registration: from 06:30, First wave starts: 07:30.
On-line entries: will close at 8pm on the preceding Thursday.
Entry in advance: £110. If you are 65 or over by Dec 31st in the race year, you race FREE with us in our weekend multisport events, unless otherwise stated.
Entry on the day: will be available subject to capacity, £120, cash only at registration please. I believe we have never yet turned away an athlete on the day of a race. You could print and fill in our postal form (see [Race entry] at top of page) and bring it along, which is easier for you and us at a busy registration desk.
Race pack: We don't send out a race pack in the post, everything is handled at registration on the day. No worries.
Pre-race emails: are normally sent the day after on-line entries close.
Chip timing: This event will be chip timed, subject to sufficient numbers.
Event Records: Male 04:02:47, Female 04:44:14 (Some courses have altered over time)
Team Entries: Relay team entries of 2 or 3 people are welcome at all our multisport events, see Race Entry page for details. You pay for just one race entry, unlike other promoters' races.

More info: What's it like ?
A very easy "M" shaped swim route around large hi-viz bouys and fully supported by safety canoeists. Entry and exit from the lake is via a sloping concrete ramp, which leads only yards away to Transition on the bankside grass.
Just a 30m dash from transition to the "Mount Zone" and you are out on the bike course. On the first lap of the half riders will go straight on at Brenzett rbgt up to Appledore , left before the bridge and back down to the A259 , turn left and proceed to Brooklands rbt , turn 180o and then proceed to East Guldeford , then next circuit will be as per the Standard route .
The run is again very flat on our loop around the venue, with hardly any traffic, just marshals and signs on every turn with a water/aid station every 5k where you can eat/drink as little or as much as needed. Then back to the finish alongside transition where your medal/trophies await.
Come and enjoy a race where the emphasis is on quality courses/marshals/signage and less on whistles/bells/flags etc.
Wetsuits will be compulsory.
