Post race report

swizzuk happy at Cranbrook

A great day at Cranbrook as records go again even allowing for the shortened swim (to 300m-much more civilised !) Sam Begg went well under the hour with a 58:03 to take the overall win from Steve Barkess (61:47) in 2nd just 1 second in front of Tristan Hodges (61:48). The ladies were topped by vet Val Place who also won in 2012 and was 2nd last year, she recorded 71:50 with Jennifer Wood just behind in 72:12 and Lizzie Clarke 3rd with 72:49. Brilliant weather, amazing competitors and bacon baps – what more can Triathlon offer !

“Thank you for a brilliant event on Sunday. Your marshalls were great. It was my first tri event and
I was injured so in a cast boot but I managed the swim and the bike, might try a road bike next time though! Am looking forward to doing the whole thing next year.”

“Many thanks to you and your team for today’s event. Roll on Canterbury.”

“What a great and well organised event (on my doorstep). Thanks.”

“Just wanted to say that I too really enjoyed the tri on Sunday, very well organised and a nice local friendly laid back atmosphere.
I have done about 4/5 tri’s now and its great to find one almost on my doorstep and on a smaller scale than Blenheim/Windsor etc. See you at Bodiam/Tunbridge Wells more than likely!

“Hi mike great event especially for my first triathlon 🙂 well organised and fantastic atmosphere see you guys in Canterbury.

“Just wanted to add my thanks for such a good event. It was my first ever triathlon and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Once I work out how to improve the transitions it could get even better! [Check out our FAQ for some useful tips – Mike]

[Thanks for the nice comments, glad you enjoyed it – Mike]

Sam Dell repeated his first years win and proceeded to improve on his time by 80 secs , just ending up 2secs short of getting under the hour . Team Lifestyles Marc Townsend  was 4mins back in 2nd place with Mark Portman 19 secs further back in 3rd . For the ladies it was Supervet Val PLace who showed her younger challengers the way with her win just 4secs in front of sarah Dowling of Greenwich Tritons with rapidly improving newcomer Emily Tavernor  just 29secs back in 3rd . Great performances were put in by many in the race with 2010 times to beat quite a few managed to do so . Blue skies and sunshine made the weather spot on for racing with many competitors beating their 2010 times and vowing to do the same again in 2012 .

“just a quick word to say thanks again to you and your team for an excellent, well organised event , it makes so much difference to us competitors when it runs so smoothly .A great day out again , look forward to some more .Please convey my thanks to your team .”
