A really great mornings racing …. with some excellent performances from both established Duathletes and newcomers alike . Declan Doyle claimed one of the last places available and then took the win with a devastating ride on the Q25/20 time-trial course on the A20 . Not that far behind were locals Jimmy George and Keith Brown both racing for VO2 Max who completed the top 3 . Caroline Terburgh of Larkfield AC lead the ladies home followed by the 2010 winner Sarah Sutton and Vet Barbara Hutton in third .Many others took home age-group trophies for the first time and most have vowed to come and tackle the course again in 2012 .

A damp and drizzly morning greeted the 70 competitors out of the 91 who registered . With the air temp at 7o it was never going to be that warm out on the bike but the first 9.5k run generated the heat for most with the eventual mens winner Carl Ferri scorching around the course in 33.42 , just behind Mike Page who came in 33.26 . Out on the bike Carl kept up the momentum but so did Keith Brown who took just 54 secs longer over the 42k route , leaving him with just over 3 mins deficit after T2 . Carls last run of 13 mins kept him in first place though with a by then 4.15 advantage at the line . Keith kept up the pressure to stay ahead of a fast-finishing Matt Walters who covered the 3.5k run in an amazing 12.19 . In the ladies race it was Kat Berry and Sarah Dowling who came into T1 just one second apart , quick transistions saw them out on the bike course in less than a minute . However , despite being nearly 2 mins adrift on the run Nathalie Bent went out on the bike determined to make up some ground , she did so very easily and by the time she came into T2 Nat had a lead over her rivals of 4mins and 7 mins respectively . Despit a slower run than her persuers she came across the line in first with Kat Berry 2nd and Sarah Dowling 3rd .
