Evening tri 17/08/11

eveningtriresults170811Just as everyone racked their bikes a downpour arrived and for a while it looked like an aquathon might be a safer option but the popular vote said lets carry on as normal so the race went ahead > Despite arriving late and giving everyone a 30 sec start on the swim Dan Sims came out of the water in 2nd place and looked set to follow through on the bike , however , Adam Eastwood was only secs behind Dan on the bike return and ran with Dan most of the way round before Dan upped the pace and came home for the win . The ladies were lead home by Melissa Mitchell who showed her strength on both the bike and run legs . My thanks goes to Trish Beeley for marshalling all 3 evening tri’s and to Roy who has helped set up and take down and to all others who helped make these sessions enjoyable .

Last Evening Tri

Wednesday 17th will see the last of our evening sprint tri’s down at Lydd , the popular 500m swim , 24k bike and 5.3k run will start at 6.30 and all entries will be taken at registration at the low price of £15 . Water temp is still good and showers + changing are available . Prizes will be given out after the race (Charlie from “BONK” t-shirts will be there again), hopefully we will have some ladies enter this time !

Medway Sprint tri – Results

We now have the results for yesterdays tri , the link is on the results tab of the medway page . It is unusual for a technical glitch to happen in the timing system but it did hence the delay . I will endeavour to get everyones trophies and prizes to them asap . Other than that the weather was good (yet again) and everyone seemed to enjoy the course . I have been told that one of our competitors mislaid his Ipod around the changing room area so if you have picked it up meaning to hand it in and forgot just e-mail me and i will arrange to get it back to its owner .

Wednesday 20th Lydd evening tri

Another win for Dan Sims – a 2 minute advantage in the swim that Dan maintained till the end of the run meant he took top spot , triathlon newcomer Simon Paine was down the field after the bike but came in 2nd after a fast final run whilst Adam Eastwood took the final podium spot . Nothing to report for the ladies as none of them turned up to race although a couple of the men offered to exchange gender for the evening thinking they could claim the prizes but tri-suits are just too revealing so they were turned down . The weather was just about spot on , overcast but dry and the infamous wind died away to nothing leaving the lake mill-pond like at the end of the evening . My thanks to Roy , Trish and Neil for marshalling , Roy goes up to Nottingham for the Outlaw this Sunday so we all wish him well for his race . Results are here eveningtriresults

Another weds evening Tri !

Yes , by popular demand we are going to hold another evening triathlon at Lydd using the same course as before , the 500m lake swim , the 20k bike up to Camber and back and the 5.3k run route around Galloways Road . We will start at 7pm and registration and transistion will be open from 5.30pm . THe date will be the 20th July and the cost for entry will be £15 , not £50 as per some other evening tri’s ! Enter on the day only .

The Mid-Week Tri

Well done to everyone who came down on Weds and raced the evening tri at Lydd , the 500m swim , 20k bike and 5.3k run was contested by 39 athletes who were tested by the wind (just for a change ?) on the way to Camber on the bike but the return was a little bit quicker ! Local elite athlete Dan Sims came out of the water on the shoulder of youngster Rory Hopcraft but put time into his chasers on the bike and never looked back  for the win . For the ladies Melissa Mitchell put in solid performances on all 3 legs including a very strong run to take the win The donations box (which went straight to the CLIC SERGEANT childrens cancer charity ) totalled £307  . More than a few competitors asked if we could run another one (but no free barbie this time ! ) so i will try and arrange it .
