RACE HQ
The venue is the 4* Mercure Hotel ,ME17 1RE , situated on the A20 at Hollingbourne and just across the road from the start /finish. The race HQ is located in the Southpoint Suite which is on the left of the hotel as you drive in . Facilities in the hotel which we can use both pre and post-race include changing , showers and swimming , we should also have massage available .
The course is undulating as it crosses the Downs but the views from the top of the climb (weather permitting) are amazing , on a clear day the visibility is about 25 miles . We use pathways if the route is alongside the A20 (these are solid tarmac) and quiet country lanes when up the Downs . All turn points will be marshalled and signed , water/feed stations will be placed at aprox 3mile intervals on the route .Most of the course has been used before as a 13/21 mile run back in March ’10 with most runners using it as a warm up for London , last year November was quite warm for the 1st 2 weeks but comfortable for long-distance running . This will be a good base for your winter training .Chip timing will be in operation for accurate times and quick results . In addition to the signs and marshalls all turns will have bright orange arrows sprayed on the ground , your race no. will also be in orange .
